Pantone's Fall Report

It is never too early to think about your color palette. As most events are planned far in advance, it is important to know what the season ahead will bring in fashionable colors.

"The fall 2009 palette is more unique and thoughtful than the typical autumnal hues of years past," said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute®. "Designers recognize the desire for fundamental basics that speak to current economic conditions, but also understand the need to incorporate vibrant color to grab the consumers’ eyes and entice them to buy."

According to the report, subtle contrasts make up the diverse palette for fall 2009. This season, designers play with a broad spectrum of color resulting in distinct, yet cohesive combinations. Like a painter's palette, fall 2009 offers choice and diversity, but the unexpected integration of colors is what makes it so appealing."

Trip to Thailand!

What an exquisite trip! Mixed a little pleasure with a little business! What an amazing opportunity it was to experience a culture with those that live it. Having friends whose family live in Thailand, we were really able to immerse ourselves in the Thai culture. Which also helped while conducting business and I do not speak a lick of Thai. That was quite the language barrier. I learned a few phrases while there, but also learned that a single word with different inflections can completely change the meaning, so had to be careful with my attempts.
Aside the amazing fun we had, was able to really go direct to silk manufacturers and so many more business connections where a lot of products are originally made that we use here in the states. So, I was thrilled to knock out a lot of middle men to bring these products direct from the source. What a great resource, we are already planning our trip back at the end of the year!

I drew incredible amounts of inspiration from the colors, fabrics and textiles I was able to experience as well. These are just a few photos of the over 1000 I took, feel free to visit the link "Trip to Thailand" to view a few more! I will be uploading more as I am able to sort through them all.

NY Stationery Show!

We are gearing up again for going to the big show! Always a highlight of the year to attend. The newest lates, and greats from around the world and just a wonderful experience as NYC always is! If you love paper, this is an absolute must attend! We love seeing all the new products, but really find interest in the supply side. Finding the direct manufacturers! However, make sure before you put those product lines under your name, work with them and test them. Some greats we found last year had wonderful presentation, and bad follow through. Made the expense of buying sample lines, to end up scraping due to poor service.
Note to attendees: make sure your hotel is not under major renovation, as I experienced last year, and was not thrilled. Booked a very reputatble hotel and was... a little po'd about the horrific conditions the hotel was in when we arrived that was not posted on their site.
However, the small negatives, the overwhelming positives and enduring leads add to the anticipation of the next year's show that you just can't wait to book!

Beautiful Thermography/ Offset combo for LC

Thermography has been around for quite some time, but not every printer does it well. Luckily, we work with one of the premiere printers in the country, so we know we can rely on the exceptional quality every single time a job goes to press! Also, working with such an extraordinary printer allows us to combine many printing process' all within a single piece. Working with this client was an absolute joy! It is very rewarding for a client to come to us and have a vision, but really lets us evolve that vision. This client, LC, came to us with a vision of flourishes and a particular color palette. Through many different versions we were able to achieve exactly what she wanted for her signature logo. Using thermography for all the design was going to be a bit overwhelming, so we went with an offset back drop, forefront of the logo and text for bright and vibrant thermography over the offset printing. The results were stunning! A cornicopia of color and more apparent... textures! They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but when it comes to a piece like this, you have to see and feel it to appreciate the beauty! The coordinator Lucie's Events did a spectacular job of pulling us all together!

Morris Info Card

Don't you love just clean classic letterpress on Crane stock! I am always elated when a client chooses Crane papers, and Krista loved it! We developed a simple classic logo and incorporated it into not just the invitation, but the response cards, programs and menu. A stunning couple that are elated in love, a pure joy to work with. For this information card that was included in the invitations, we stepped out a bit and had some fun with the design. Working with a western theme, we incorporated a wooden fence post with arrows and stars which was the base of the collection and logos.

"Also, I wanted to tell you THANK YOU! For all your help with everything!!!! I am so in love with our invitations and mom & I got them stuffed and to the post office yesterday. We both are so happy with everything you have created! I love my logo also! Thanks for bringing everything to me two days in a row, you really have great customer service and I am so glad that we chose you to help us create this great day!" - Krista Morris

Newberry Wedding Cigar Bar

I love getting photos from work we have done for our clients. As more of Mary Amanda's pictures trickle in we can wait to post them. This was a fun and exciting way to entertain their guests. With Honduran cigars, Romeo Y Julieta, Casa Blanca, Sancho Panza and many samplers, there was a myriad to choose from. We carried some fonts and some of the graphic elements from her invitation to bring a cohesive theme to all the added elements. Lucie's Events was a great inspiration and framed the signs and finished the event with an overjoyed client! Kudos!

Glossy pages- American Statesman

Acquaintances for four years, Pat and Darlene Pierson grew closer after the death of their loved ones. They married in December. They fell into a natural courtship that quickly blossomed into love. Darlene says she knew almost from the start that they'd eventually be married. One evening when they were alone, Pat said to Darlene in an off-handed way, "You know I'm going to change your name."
"To what?" she replied, thinking she was pretty fond of the name Darlene.
"To Pierson, of course."
"He kind of caught me off-guard," Darlene says.

She awoke one rainy morning and racked her brain to make some plans. She was so flummoxed, that she went back to bed, only to be awakened by Dixie barking at a neighbor. The neighbor turned out to be professional event planner Toni Gardner. "My birthday just happens to be December 6," Toni said, "and for my birthday present, I'm going to plan your wedding." Darlene remembers the moment now with a benediction: "What a blessing."

On December 6th, with friends and family gathered at their home, Darlene and Pat launched a new life together. -Excerpts from The Austin-American Statesman Glossy section, author: Helen Anders.

What a pleasure working with Toni Gardner of 360 Media and Over the Top Events as well as the elegance and grace of Darlene & Pat. Congratulations to the both of you!

Metalpress!!!

We are proud to be The World Premiere Vendor for Metalpress! This patent pending new process is as innovative and cutting edge as it gets. Design elements and text actually cut from metals and applied to substrates such as paper, acrylic, leather, wood, metals/tins, fabric folios, boxes and stone veneers. This process can be combined with letterpress, thermography, offset, screen printing and digital printing. Don't want it all in metalpress, use a wow factor with just a monogram, a tag on a favor or a belly wrap, the applications are limitless. Never before has an invitation looked like this! Metalpress Design has dimension, texture, and radiance that cannot be achieved with any other technique. The silver and gold Metalpress copy and designs you see are solid metal -- .1 mm thick (about the thickness of 4 pieces of printer paper). Metalpress can be used in a wide variety of applications: Couture invitations for Weddings and Bar/Bat Mitzvahs; Accompanying RSVP cards, place cards, seals, etc.; Private party invitations; Corporate events, corporate recognition, logos, marketing and promotional pieces; Personalized stationery...the list goes on.

MAB's collection

Mary Amanda's collection was inspired by her love of nature. Birds and trees, a must have!
We incorporated custom wax seals, postage stamps, and a custom printed pen to write on the RSVP card to round out some of the elements for such a unique piece. To show off the art work, we used clear envelopes to maximize the impact for the delight of her guests. A beautiful event held at The Barr Mansion. Mary and Ross first met by way of mutual friends that had been dating at the time. Mary had flown in from New York to go on Lake Travis with her friend Kristin, but had nothing to do afterwards and wanted to see Austin. Ross and his good friend Andy picked the girls up from Carlos n Charlies, the place where romance blossoms. Mary soon packed up her bags and moved from NYC. The rest you could say is now wedded bliss! We have to thank Lucie's Events for bringing such an exciting and wonderful client to work with!

Mary Amanda

Aside having the perfect client, this collection was sooo much fun to work on. This program for Mary Amanda's collection was double sided to incorporate some song lyrics and quotes the couple really liked. It was hung with care by a ribbon on the back of all the ceremony chairs. Photo courtesy of a guest and friend of the couple, Matthew Turke.
